About Us

Washer Specialties Co.

An original American success story, Clarence Lieber started Washer Specialties on February 2, 1960, selling installation equipment for the then “new” automatic washers and dryers. Clarence operated the business out of a building the size of a normal sized garage and used his car to deliver the parts to a customer base within driving distance.

The company’s first big boost in appliance parts came when it became a distributor for GE parts. About the same time, Washer’s developed the first parts catalog under the Armstrong banner. Washer’s began selling equipment as well as parts in 1980, and the product line today represents a third of their income. In 1987, they began selling Whirlpool Heating and Cooling, which became Tempstar in 1990. Continually staying on the cutting edge of efficiency, sales were so successful that the company received the Tempstar Distributor of the Year Award in 1999.

The company employs a staff of fifty. Everyone from our President Alan Lieber, whom has over 30 years of experience in this genre of business to our Vice-President Gerald Dargel who has over 25, is committed to the customer’s satisfaction. Richard Smith, our Product Manager started with us in 1996 and can be found helping out all over the company. Our friendly counter and phone room staff also has a combined experience of over 40 years of product knowledge to help you with all your needs.

Under Alan’s leadership, in 1995 the company opened a website that customers can access 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. They can check pricing and place orders. Every effort is made to ship orders the same day they are placed, whether it is on the Internet or by phone.

From a customer base within driving distance, Washer Specialties now has customers in all fifty states and even a few foreign countries. Two things that haven’t changed are Clarence Lieber and the commitment to serve the customer.
